RenNum AI Dialogues, Geneva
On April 26th, 2024, the think tank ‘Renaissance Numérique’ is organizing in Geneva the first of its three-day AI Dialogues’ series, entitled ‘Is an international AI governance achievable?’. The Chair AI Regulation and the MIAI Grenoble, as well as distinguished institutions (Université de Genève, UCL Louvain, Sciences Po Paris, HES-SO Genève, Institut Polytechnique de Paris) are participating as academic partners. This initiative, which purpose is to bring together European and international experts to discuss international, European and local governance issues, is financed by Banque des Territoires, Docaposte, Google, Microsoft and Kaspersky.
The Chair’s Research Fellow, Dr. Theodoros Karathanasis, will participate in the Geneva AI Dialogues by opening the first session of the day, which will focus on the strengths and weaknesses of international AI governance. This session will discuss issues related to the effectiveness of ensuring the ethical development of AI systems at the global level, the pros and cons of governing AI at the international and local levels, and the impact of global initiatives on stakeholders.
