EU Innovation hub annual event: shaping responsible solutions for internal security
Professor Theodore Christakis participated in the EU Innovation hub for internal security annual event entitled ‘Shaping responsible solutions for internal security’ which took place on September 13th, 2022 in Brussels. He has been invited as moderator for a panel on innovation in Monitoring and Surveillance.
During this session the various speakers discussed the evolution of the tools which assist law enforcement agencies in their decision making process such as Artificial intelligence and Big data technologies. These new technologies bring new opportunities but they also entail many risks for individuals’ privacy and human rights. This topic is at the very core of the Chair AI-Regulation activities since the Chair’s researchers have published a lot of articles on Facial Recognition.
