“AI Privilege”: Why and How Should Our Conversations with AI Be Legally Protected?
On 11 June 2026, Theodore Christakis, Director of Chair (Legal), will speak in a webinar co-hosted by the International Center for Law & Economics (ICLE) and Technische Universität München (TUM).
As AI systems increasingly become sources of advice, guidance, and personal assistance, an important legal question emerges: Should conversations with AI receive protections comparable to those afforded to communications with lawyers, doctors, or therapists?
This webinar will explore whether a form of “AI privilege” should exist and, if so, what its doctrinal foundations might be, what limits should apply, and what technical safeguards would be necessary to make such protection meaningful in practice.
The discussion will take the form of a moderated dialogue followed by an open Q&A session. Lawyers, technologists, regulators, journalists, and members of the public are all welcome to participate.
