On April 19th, the Director of AI-Regulation Chair, Professor Theodore Christakis moderates a panel on Biometric Data Compliance at a conference organized by Privacy Symposium in Venice, Italy.

The Privacy Symposium aims at supporting international dialogue, cooperation and knowledge-sharing on data protection, compliance and emerging technologies. It provides a venue for data protection professionals, cybersecurity experts, authorities and researchers to meet and discuss the latest and upcoming developments in data protection, data regulations, and emerging technologies.

The panel will take place at Santa Margherita Auditorium and a one hour discussions will be held with Shara Monteleone (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali), Dr. Isabelle Landreau (IDEMIA) and Catherine Jasserand-Breeman (KU Leuven CiTiP), on case law in Europe concerning Facial Recognition and Biometric Data, as well as developments related to the regulation of Remote Biometric Identification in the EU AI Act and the possible way forward.
